Weldment Terminology

A Weld : 
A union between materials caused by heat, and or pressure

HAZ : daerah base material yang berubah microstructurnya karena pengaruh welding proses yang berada diantara fusion line dan base material yang tidak kena effect welding.
HAZ dipengaruhi oleh :

-material komposisinya
-cooling rate,fast cooling high hardness
- high heat input wider HAZ

Butt joint-bersama antara dua anggota selaras kira-kira di bidang yang sama

Joint corner - bersama antara dua anggota yang terletak di sudut kanan satu sama lain

Fillet/T- joint - a joint between two members located approximately at right angles to each other in the form of a T

Lap Joint- a joint between two overlapping members

 Weld bead profile: Convex or Concave?

 Solidification of molten bead leads to shrinkage

 Shrinkage of a concave bead leads to tension on surface -> tends to crack

 Shrinkage of a convex bead leads to compression on surface -> does not crack
